A Diamond in the Rough

It's taken me more that 2 months but I've finally finished it.  Do you remember the stool I found in November at a yard sale?  See my yard sale finds here.  I knew you wouldn't recognize her.  This neglected beauty needed a little care and after a little sanding, staining, painting and reupholstering she looks better than ever.  Just look at those legs!

She is not only beautiful on the outside but she is truly beautiful on the inside too.

I originally planned to paint the stool black but after I sanded it I found the most beautiful natural wood.  I couldn't bring myself to cover it with paint it.

Fabric on the Inside 

To cover the inside I used Mod Podge and a fabric remnant I found at Premier Fabrics.

 I took the stool apart.  I used a sponge brush to apply Mod Podge to the bottom piece.

I layed the fabric over the Mod Podge and smoothed the fabric.   Then I trimmed the fabric to the shape of the bottom piece.

 Reupholster the Top

I reupholstered the top with Suzani chocolate/ natural by Premier Prints.

Remove old upholstery and cut foam to size.

Wrap foam and seat in batting secure with staples.

Fold sides to make a pleat and secure with staples.

Cut off extra fabric

Cut piece to cover bottom of cushion, fold under edges and secure with staples.
