Ceiling Fan Makeover

The ceiling fan in our bedroom has light wood blades that do not match our bedroom furniture.  I wanted a new ceiling fan but I didn't want to spend money on a fan.  I would rather spend money on paint and pretty shiny things.  I decided to paint it dark to match the furniture in our room.

How to spray paint a celing fan

To paint the fan I used Krylon Primer White, Rust-Oleum Lacquer Black, and Rust-Oleum Lacquer Clear.

How to spray paint ceiling fan blades:

Step1:  Remove the fan blades
Step 2:  Spray with primer
Step 3:  Spray paint the edges

Step 4:  Spray paint each blade and follow the instructions on the can.
Be patient and apply about 3 thin coats 10 minutes apart.
Step 5:  For added protection spray paint the clear lacquer and again follow the instructions on the can.  Apply about 2 coats. Let dry for about 12 hours before handling.
You don't want finger prints in your paint.
Step 6:  Remove the pull chain and cover with tape tape.

Step 7:  Spray paint the fan pulls.  I held them up while spraying them (gloves recommended).

Are you ready to see how it turned out?
