Hanging Butterfly Ball

I am re-decorating my daughter's room.  So far I have painted her walls lavender and built a crown moulding shelf.   The next idea I want to share is the butterfly ball I made to hang from her vaulted ceiling.  It is the perfect spring craft.  You could also use this technique to make a topiary or a wreath.

Items needed:

spray painted grapevine ball $3.00
yellow daisies $3.00
5 sheets 12x12 scrapbook paper $ .60
hot glue gun
Martha Stewart monarch butterfly punch
spool of ribbon

To help disguise the grapevine ball I spray painted it white.

I punched, what seemed like a gazillion, butterflies out 5 sheets of scrapbook paper .

It helps if you cut out the butterflies ahead and pull the flowers off the stems ahead of time.

I glued the flowers on first.  I tried to space them evenly.
Tip:  Use hot glue because It dries quickly.

Then I glued on the butterflies until the wicker ball was completely covered.
Tip:  Pinch the wings back while gluing and the wings will bend slightly.

I used a small white hook to hand the ball from the ceiling.
Tip:  Use a drywall anchor for a more secure hold.

I think her room is coming along nicely.  Be sure to follow Callie's Crafts to what else I have planned.
